CPH: Lead 2040 Focus Group Project

Background
The City of Columbus, through Columbus Public Health (CPH), is launching the Healthy Children and Safe Homes by 2040 initiative aimed at preventing lead exposure in children. This initiative focuses on outreach, education, and community engagement to address lead poisoning risks, particularly in high-risk neighborhoods. The contract seeks to recruit and facilitate focus groups to gather insights from the community regarding barriers to blood lead screenings and knowledge about lead sources in homes.

Work Details
The contractor will conduct a minimum of eleven (11) facilitated in-person focus group sessions across priority areas including Linden, Near East, Hilltop, and Southside communities. Each session will involve approximately ten participants who are caregivers of children under six years old. The contractor is responsible for recruiting participants and providing $25 Visa or MasterCard gift cards as incentives. Additionally, the contractor must deliver a comprehensive report that includes analysis and actionable recommendations for public health marketing strategies. One session must be conducted in Spanish and another in Somali, with interpreters provided as necessary. The contractor will also meet monthly with CPH to monitor progress and provide updates.

Period of Performance
The contract period begins on November 20, 2024, and ends on March 1, 2025.

Place of Performance
The focus groups will be held in various neighborhoods within Columbus, specifically targeting areas identified as high risk for lead exposure.
