Big Walnut - Crosswalk at Cherry Bottom Rd

Background
The City of Columbus is accepting bids for the Big Walnut – Crosswalk at Cherry Bottom Road project. The work involves installing a Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon and signage, connecting an existing curb ramp to a shared use path with an ADA compliant connection, clearing and grubbing, and other necessary work as outlined in the Invitation For Bid (IFB).

The Department of Recreation & Parks is overseeing this project.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1) Installation of a Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon (RRFB) pedestrian warning system;
2) Installation of signage;
3) Connecting the existing curb ramp to an existing shared use path with an ADA compliant path connection;
4) Clearing and grubbing;
5) Subgrade compaction for the shared use path;
6) Installation of aggregate base;
7) Erosion control measures;
8) Mobilization;
9) Removal and disposal of ground-mounted signs;
10) Seeding and mulching;
11) Installation of a pedestal foundation and support for the RRFB;
12) Installation of a 12-inch RCP pipe with compacted granular material.

The project also includes various construction items such as pavement removal, maintaining traffic, and other related tasks as specified in the technical specifications.

Period of Performance
All work must be substantially completed within 180 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, which is anticipated to be issued in late September 2025.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at Cherry Bottom Road in Columbus, Ohio.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with prevailing wage requirements if the bid exceeds $75,000. They are required to submit all necessary documentation including current Workers’ Compensation certificates for themselves and any subcontractors. Bidders are encouraged to partner with city-certified minority and female business enterprises, but this is not a condition for bid award. All contractors must hold valid contract compliance certification numbers before contract execution.
