Background
The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department - Sports Office (CRPD) manages multiple athletic complexes that host recreational and competitive athletic events for youth and adult sports. CRPD is seeking proposals for onsite food concession operations at Berliner Park, Spindler Park, and other facilities where events are hosted. The goal is to find a competent and economically managed food concessionaire to meet public demands while ensuring high-quality standards and financial returns.
Work Details
The selected Bidder will provide food and beverage services at various locations including:
- Lou Berliner Sports Park: 60+ events, 17,000+ games, 380,000+ visitors over 38 weeks; includes 31 ball diamonds, permanent & portable restrooms, and three fenced complex areas for concessions.
- Spindler Park: 15 full-park weekend events; includes 18 natural grass soccer fields with limited utilities; space for a food truck or tent.
The Bidder must operate snack bars/restaurants in five softball/baseball complex areas and provide a food tent/trailer at Spindler Soccer Park. They may also offer services at other CRPD events as requested. The Bidder is responsible for maintaining quality standards in food service, obtaining necessary permits, and ensuring compliance with local laws. They will sell refreshments, standard menu items, confectionary, and beverages while adhering to restrictions on alcohol and tobacco sales.
Period of Performance
The contract term is three years from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028, with an option to renew for an additional two years upon CRPD approval.
Place of Performance
Food concession operations will be performed at Lou Berliner Sports Park (325 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus, Ohio) and Spindler Park (2121 Spindler Rd, Hilliard, OH). Additional locations may be added as needed.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must submit an experience questionnaire detailing their qualifications and past performance in similar operations. They are required to secure all necessary licenses and permits from relevant authorities. Bidders must maintain commercial liability insurance naming CRPD as additional insured with specified coverage limits. Compliance with Workers’ Compensation laws of Ohio is mandatory. Bidders should have the ability to manage third-party vendors effectively and provide proof of insurance for them.
