Background
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is seeking to establish a contract for the delivery of Rock Salt (Sodium Chloride) for the 2024-25 winter season. The purpose of this invitation to bid (ITB) is to provide quantities of Rock Salt to ODOT and participating Political Subdivisions throughout the winter season. ODOT and Political Subdivisions collectively referred to as the 'Receiving Agencies' in the sections below. This solicitation contains an embedded Minority Participation Requirement.
Work Details
The contract duration is from the date of execution by the Director through May 31, 2025. All Receiving Agencies, delivery locations, and salt quantities are incorporated into the requirements of this ITB.
The Rock Salt provided by an awarded vendor must conform to ASTM Specification D632 Type I, Grade 1, with specific requirements for moisture content, gradation, chloride content, anti-caking additives/agents, foreign matter, and material safety data sheets.
The Department reserves the right to test the material quality of rock salt delivered by an awarded bidder for conformity to material specifications and requirements included in this contract.
Period of Performance
The period of performance for the contract is from the date of execution by the Director through May 31, 2025.
Place of Performance
The geographic locations where the contract will be performed include ODOT delivery locations outlined by District and County on the Department’s Excel pricing page.
The Department reserves the right to add up to one additional delivery location for each individual county throughout the contract duration.
