Background
The Institute on Immigrant Integration Research and Policy at the Rockefeller Institute of Government, SUNY (II-RP) is seeking a complete redesign and rebuild of its NYImmigrants.org website. The goal is to migrate the website from the Wix platform to a WordPress platform, modernizing its structure and improving accessibility.
Work Details
The contractor will conduct a full UX and visual design overhaul, ensuring a cohesive, responsive design system that functions smoothly across all devices. Key tasks include:
- Conducting stakeholder interviews and light user research;
- Establishing accessibility and responsive design requirements;
- Defining interaction patterns and creative direction;
- Auditing existing content;
- Creating a new sitemap and navigation structure;
- Defining templates, taxonomies, and categories for WordPress;
- Clarifying contributor workflows;
- Creating wireframes and mockups;
- Building an interactive prototype;
- Defining colors, typography, spacing, accessibility standards;
- Configuring GitHub repository with master and develop branches;
- Setting up server environments for DEV, STAGE, and PROD;
- Installing necessary plugins such as Advanced Custom Fields PRO and Wordfence Security;
- Developing stylesheets and scripts using webpack for SASS and JS management;
- Laying out content pages in Block Editor including sections like Home, About, various conferences, integration topics, etc.;
- Creating custom post types for data sheets with taxonomies and admin fields;
- Performing quality assurance/testing at each project stage;
- Providing ongoing support post-launch including maintenance plans for updates and security monitoring.
Period of Performance
The contract term is expected to last between 10 to 12 weeks.

The work will be performed in Albany County.
