Water Distribution System Improvements

Background
The Incorporated Village of Garden City, NY is seeking to improve its water distribution system. This project aims to enhance the existing infrastructure to ensure reliable water service delivery to residents and businesses in the area. The contract is not set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned businesses.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for various tasks including:

1) Installation of new water main lines, specifically a 6-inch ductile iron water main with cement lining.

2) Installation of new service lines, including 1-inch and 2-inch copper tubing with associated fittings such as corporation stops and curb stops.

3) Removal of existing hydrants and installation of new hydrants with specified depths and mechanical joints.

4) Coordination of shutdowns for existing mains, ensuring proper notification to consumers.

5) Restoration work including asphalt pavement restoration, concrete sidewalk restoration, and grass restoration in disturbed areas.

6) Compliance with safety protocols during excavation near underground utilities, including electric and gas lines.

The work will also involve chlorination and pressure testing of newly installed mains before they are put into service.

Period of Performance
The contract term is set for one year from the date of award, with an expected completion date by May 31, 2026.

The project will take place in Garden City, NY, specifically along designated streets such as Third Street, Kellum Place, John Street, Franklin Avenue, and others as indicated in the project plans.
