Background
The Suffolk County Office of Central Procurement, on behalf of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide English/Spanish translation and interpreter services.
The District Attorney’s Office serves a large jurisdiction in Long Island and requires these services to facilitate communication in legal matters involving Spanish-speaking individuals. The agency aims to ensure effective communication through professional interpretation and translation services across its various offices.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing the following services:
(1) Translation from English to Spanish and vice versa in both written and verbal forms;
(2) Simultaneous and consecutive interpretation;
(3) Document translation;
(4) Transcription of recorded audio material.
A minimum of one in-office interpreter is required at the Riverhead office at least three days per week from 9 AM to 5 PM for various interpretation needs including live interviews and Grand Jury proceedings. New York State certified interpreters are preferred.
Period of Performance
The anticipated term of the contract is one year with three optional one-year extensions.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various offices of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, primarily in Hauppauge, Central Islip, Riverhead, and Hampton Bays.
Bidder Requirements
Proposers must demonstrate qualifications including experience with similar services, provide resumes of key personnel, and disclose any conflicts of interest.
Proposals must include compliance forms as specified by Suffolk County laws, including certifications related to non-collusion, lawful hiring practices, and living wage requirements.
