Telecommunications Shelter and Equipment Installation at Mt. Washington Radio Tower Site

Background
The Steuben County Public Safety Department is seeking a contractor for the installation of a new telecommunications shelter and associated equipment at the Mt. Washington Radio Tower site. The goal is to replace the existing equipment shelter with a new 30’ x 30’ facility that meets current standards and requirements for telecommunications operations.

Work Details
The contractor will provide a new telecommunications shelter either through on-site construction using Concrete Masonry Units (CMU) or by delivering a prefabricated shelter. Responsibilities include obtaining necessary permits, ensuring compliance with local building codes, and installing the shelter according to manufacturer specifications.

The project includes:
- A concrete slab foundation designed per geotechnical reports.
- Installation of a concrete pad at the entrance.
- Compliance with electrical equipment space requirements.
- Ensuring structural integrity to support specified loads (200 lbs/sq ft uniform load; 350 lbs concentrated load).
- Installation of heavy gauge steel doors and an exterior drip trough or awning.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award and is expected to follow a detailed project schedule including key milestones such as Kick Off, Detailed Design Review, Site Preparation, Acceptance Testing, and Project Close Out.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Mt. Washington Radio Tower site located at 7292 Faucett Road, Bath, NY 14810.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must submit a bid bond of 5% of the total bid amount, proof of authorization to do business in New York State, and a non-collusion affidavit. Contractors must also demonstrate experience in similar projects and provide references. Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws is required.
