Description

The NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets intends to procure the rental of a Security Weapon Detection System for the 2025 NYS Fair pursuant to its discretionary authority under State Finance Law Section 163. This equipment rental must include delivery, setup, takedown and training.

  1. Metal Detection Systems must be compliant with Federal\International Standards, and test pieces need to represent the various standards, based on the threat items needed to be detected. Examples:
  • NIJ: NILECJ STD 0601.00 (Levels 1 & 2)
  • ASTM: WK76321; Object Size 1 (Standard Performance Specifications and Test Methods for Walk Through Metal Detectors Used in Safety and Security)
  1. A wire-free system that is battery operated (110V power adapter as an available option).
  2. Has no communication or power cables that run physically to or from the system/unit (unless a particular AC power need is specified).
  3. Has no step-over ground plates that hide communication or power wires Free from trip hazards
  4. Each portion of the weapons detector weighs less than 30 pounds ea. for ease of handling and mobility
  5. Weapons detector is fully operational and ready to screen in less than 60 seconds
  6. High volume throughput.
  7. For the health and safety of facility visitors, the detectors meet or exceed Federal\International certifications for Human Exposure, with proof of certification.
  8. Ability to detect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  9. Ability to function fully outdoors and in various inclement weather conditions without the need of a covering or tent.
  10. A detection technology that is simple to deploy and train for the Operator ( Go or No-Go )
  11. Detection parameters accessible via smartphone or tablet app.
  12. Delivery and set up on Monday August 18th. Pick up Tuesday September 2nd.
  13. At a minimum, technician on site for set up, training and for the first three days of the fair August 20,21,22 2025. Set up and training of fair staff on August 18th and 19th.
  14. Telephone and/or online technical support for the duration of the fair.
  15. Quote is for 13 units at 7 pedestrian entry gates.
  16. Pricing must be all inclusive of all equipment, support, transportation, training, etc.

Background
