Sale of Timber Products Pine Grove Rd Town of Watson

Background
Lewis County is seeking proposals for the sale of forest products located on approximately 25 acres in the Town of Watson, specifically on the southeast portion of tax parcel 229.00-02-9.100.
The goal of this contract is to manage and harvest timber products from the designated area, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and local regulations.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the sale and harvesting of timber products, including:
- White Pine: Estimated quantity of 269.2 MBF (thousand board feet) from approximately 822 trees with a diameter at breast height (DBH) ranging from 14 to 29 inches.
- Softwood Pulp: Estimated quantity of 42.1 +/- cords from approximately 142 trees with a DBH ranging from 10 to 26 inches.
- Culls: Approximately 23 trees with a DBH ranging from 10 to 24 inches.

The contractor must ensure that:
- Trees marked in orange paint are cut, while those marked with blue paint are not included in the sale.
- Harvesting operations begin at the back of the sale area and progress toward the front.
- All skid trails must be repaired and back bladed after harvesting.
- The contractor is liable for any unmarked trees cut, facing penalties up to $250 per tree or triple damages.
- Erosion control measures are implemented as required by Lewis County.

Period of Performance
The contract term is set for 25 months, with an intent to award on December 3rd, 2024, and all work completed by January 1st, 2027.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in the Town of Watson, Lewis County, New York.
