SECTION A - Description of Work

Job Title: Replace Non-Compliant Stair Railings and Balusters
Scope of work:
Replace Non NYS Building Code and Non ADA compliant Stair Railings at Campus Center Building at two Fire Stairs #1 and #2, each with access to four floors and basement.
Provide all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to perform the following scope of work.
- Replace entire system of railings, posts and balusters and supports, including wall hung, to be NYS Building Code and ADA compliant.
- Design specification is Pacific Stair Corporation's 400 Series Picket Rail or equivalent.
Bidder MUST name the system brand and specification within bid submission.
- Existing structural stringers remain, patch and touch up paint as needed.
- Measure, submit shop drawings for approval, fabricate, supply and install full railing system.
- Include replacement of guardrails at all stair landing areas.
- Include removal and disposal of all existing railing materials.
- Guardrail height should be min. 42 per NYS Code.
- Supports to be bolted to existing stringers if possible to avoid welding.
- Color to match the existing green closely, not custom.
- Handrails, all, to be brushed stainless.
- Include patching and painting all existing areas affected, including all steel and block work existing.
- Obtain from campus a Hot Work permit. Provide OSHA required protections and fume exhaust if needed with portable fire extinguisher, include fire and safety watch during all welding work.
- Phasing required, work at one stair core at a time only, allow schedule and coordinate materials delivery. Avoid storing on site for phase two.
- Approve and coordinate site safety plan and logistics prior to mobilization.
For all parts of work, include:
- Provide submittals on all the materials for approval prior to order.
- One (1) Year warranty on parts and labor.
Bids are to include all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to perform the work described above.
SCHEDULE:
SUNY PM will coordinate with the contractor to schedule the work. Contactor to provide preliminary schedule for lead time of all the materials with their bid.
