Description

PERMIT, inspection, materials and disposal to be the responsibility of the subcontractor.

Subcontractor must follow all current safety protocol and is responsible for general job site safety and security.

Demolition:

  1. Protect existing structure, shrubs, and personal property during removal, taking caution to keep all entrances free of hazards.
  2. Remove existing shingles
  3. Remove existing drip edge and flashing.
  4. Remove existing underlayment.
  5. Remove and repair/replace all rotted decking. PROVIDE COST PER SHEET FOR REPLACING DECKING with 5/8 CDX, or matching existing roof decking.
  6. Remove all GUTTERS - Metal Fascia and soffit at eaves and rakes on entire perimeter of roof.
  7. Remove roof sheathing on side addition and replace with 5/8 CDX plywood.
  8. All materials removed shall be the responsibility of the subcontractor to properly dispose of. Site shall be left free of nails and other debris and all landscaping/lawn areas shall be restored to their pre construction status.

Installation:

  1. Furnish and install new aluminum drip edge along all eaves and rakes, nailed in place.
  2. Furnish and install ice and water shield along eaves per current and local code.
  3. Flashings shall be installed in a manner that prevents moisture from entering the wall and roof through joints in copings, through moisture permeable materials and at intersections with parapet wallsand other penetrations through the roof plane.
  4. Furnish and install new synthetic underlayment, lapped min. 6 in. at horizontal seams and min. 4 in. at vertical seams (or as per manufactured specs).
  5. Furnish and install new 30-year architectural roof shingles per manufacturer instructions on all appropriately pitched roofs.
  6. Install self-adhesive or like replacement, on low pitched roofs.
  7. Color will be verified with Agency/Owner. Brown or Black only
  8. Nails shall be double hot-dipped galvanized roofing nails of sufficient length to fully penetrate roof sheathing and applied with at least 5 nails per shingle or nail pattern as recommended by manufacturer.
  9. Furnish and install new ridge vent with shingle cap.
  10. Furnish and install new roof boots, vents, etc. for all roof penetrations following manufacturer's instructions or generally accepted construction practices.
  11. Install vinyl perforated soffit at all eaves and rakes. Color to be verified prior to installation.
  12. Install seamless gutters both front and rear with leader drains. Color to be verified prior to installation.
  13. Subcontractor will follow all manufacturers recommended installation procedures.
  14. Upon completion, site will be broom cleaned and all demolition and construction debris will be removed from site.
  15. Subcontractor to be responsible for all safety training, protocol and work practices.

Background
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is administered in New York State by New York State Housing and Community Renewal (NYSHCR). The funding for this program is provided by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

ARPA projects are being funded through WAP. Special funding from the Weatherization Readiness Fund (WRF) has been made available for select structures that were denied traditional weatherization services due to defects. WAP services are delivered through a state-wide network of local service providers, referred to as subgrantees. UCAC (Ulster County Community Action Committee, Inc.) is a Subgrantee of WAP.

Work Details
The contract involves the removal and replacement of an existing roof at 314 Pine St, Saugerties NY 12401. The subcontractor is responsible for permits, inspections, materials, and disposal. Key tasks include:
- Demolition: Protect existing structures during removal; remove existing shingles, drip edge, flashing, underlayment; repair/replace rotted decking with 5/8” CDX or matching material; remove gutters, metal fascia, and soffit; replace roof sheathing on side addition with 5/8” CDX plywood; ensure proper disposal of all materials and restore landscaping.

Bidders must maintain proper insurance coverage throughout the contract as specified in the bid package. They must also provide a Non-Collusion form, completed W9 Form, copies of both Worker’s Compensation and Liability Insurance made out to Ulster County Community Action Committee, Inc., and comply with all safety training protocols.
