Project #375260 CUNY Lehman College Campus Wide Emergency Power System Upgrade Phase 2 (EOI)

Scope of Work Requested:

The project involves upgrading and providing emergency backup power to the remaining buildings on the Lehman College campus. The specific work includes:

• Installation of a new 2500kW generator to support emergency loads for the Fine Arts building, Daycare building, Library, Concert Hall, Music, Speech & Theater, Gillet Hall, Science building, and Apex.
• Connecting additional existing loads, currently on normal power, to the new generator system via optional standby Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS). These loads include:
  • Portions of the chiller and boiler plant
  • Assembly areas within the Apex building for emergency management
  • Data closets
  • Elevators
  • Pumps and mechanical systems in each building (to utilize steam for heating from the boiler plant)
  • Radio repeaters
  • Select research equipment not currently on backup power
• Upgrading existing generator infrastructure in the listed buildings to meet current codes
• Increasing capacity to connect both existing and future loads to the generator system

Background:

This is Phase 2 of a campus-wide emergency power system upgrade at Lehman College. The goal is to ensure all major campus buildings have reliable emergency backup power and that the generator infrastructure is brought up to current standards.

Contract Requirements:

• The estimated cost range for the scope of work is $15,000,000 - $15,500,000.
• The successful low bidder must execute the Project Labor Agreement (PLA) included in the Contract Documents following the Form of Bid.
• All subcontractors, at every tier, will be required to execute a Letter of Assent (included in the PLA) agreeing to be bound by the PLA's conditions.
