Background
The Suffolk County Office of Central Procurement, on behalf of the Suffolk County Department of Law, is seeking proposals from qualified entities to provide mental health services for individuals who have had a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order (TERPO) or Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) granted against them.
This initiative aims to enhance public safety by providing behavioral health assessments and connecting individuals to necessary services. The program is funded through grant resources aimed at crisis intervention and prevention.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for conducting thorough behavioral health assessments of respondents under TERPO/ERPO orders. Services include:
1. Assessing the mental health needs of respondents and making treatment recommendations.
2. Assisting respondents in accessing services and resources, including conducting assessments in various locations such as courtrooms.
3. Providing support services that may include referrals to treatment programs.
4. Engaging with respondents promptly upon their appearance in court, typically within three to six days of service of the order.
5. Tracking data and statistics related to program activities and reporting these monthly to the County Attorney’s Office.
Period of Performance
The anticipated term of the contract is 18 months, starting from the date of award.
Place of Performance
Services will primarily be performed at the Arthur M. Cromarty Criminal Court Complex in Riverhead, NY, with potential outreach in other locations as needed.
Bidder Requirements
Proposers must demonstrate qualifications including:
1. Experience with behavioral health issues and crisis intervention.
2. At least one licensed social worker available on-site approximately three days a week for 15 hours.
3. A navigator or certified peer outreach worker available for approximately 30 hours a week.
4. Compliance with all applicable licensing laws and requirements under New York State regulations, including background checks as per the Child Abuse Prevention Act.
