Landscaping and Snow/Ice Removal Services

Background
The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission is responsible for protecting and managing the unique and endangered natural communities and species of the Albany Pine Bush. This area is one of the best remaining examples of an inland pine barrens ecosystem in the world. The Commission aims to provide ecological, recreational, and educational benefits through its services. This contract seeks to engage a contractor for landscaping and snow/ice removal services at the Commission's Discovery Center property.

Work Details
The Contractor will perform landscaping services three times a year between June and October. This includes crevice cleaning, tapered cut grasses, 8” cut grasses, split rail cleaning, and fall mowing. Snow and ice removal services will be provided year-round from November to April with specific requirements for snow accumulation thresholds (2 inches) and timing for clearing operations. The Contractor must manage snow accumulation in parking lots and sidewalks using environmentally friendly de-icing products. Repairs to any damages caused during service are also required by April 30th each year.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on November 1, 2025, and will last for one year until October 31, 2026, with options for two additional one-year extensions.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission's Discovery Center located at 195 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.

Bidder Requirements
Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) are encouraged to participate with goals of 15% for minority-owned businesses and 15% for women-owned businesses. Service-disabled Veteran-owned Small Businesses (SDVOB) are also encouraged with a goal of 6%. Contractors must adhere to NYS Prevailing Wage rates and submit monthly certified payrolls. All employees must display identification at all times.
