Description
Background
The Advance Albany County Alliance (the Alliance), a not-for-profit corporation, is seeking proposals for the design and construction of a new Intercity Transit Station as part of Governor Hochul's $200 Million Championing Albany’s Potential initiative.
This project aims to enhance the South End gateway into the City of Albany, addressing the inadequacies of current bus terminals in downtown Albany. The goal is to create a high-performance, context-sensitive transportation terminal that meets both functional and urban design objectives.
Work Details
The selected contractor will be responsible for the design-build services for a state-of-the-art intercity bus terminal located at 106 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY. Key project components include:
1. Architectural, engineering, and functional design prioritization.
2. Structural engineering and inspection.
3. Adaptive re-use of an existing 3,200 sq ft structure into a terminal with ticket booths/kiosks, dedicated law enforcement presence, driver’s lounge, ADA compliant restrooms, and street-facing retail components.
4. Construction of 8-12 bus slips with sufficient parking and dark-sky lighting.
5. Compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements including ADA compliance and NYS prevailing wage requirements.
6. Implementation of green building initiatives and sustainable energy generation.
Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award on April 3, 2026, with an expedited timeline for completion as outlined in the proposal.
Place of Performance
The project will be performed at 106 South Pearl Street, Albany, New York.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with New York State Finance Law §§139-j and 139-k regarding permissible contacts during the procurement process.
There are no specific M/WBE or DBE goals stated; however, participation by Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), Woman Business Enterprises (WBE), and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (SDVOB) is encouraged.
