Background
The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is seeking to procure two sets of duplex sump pumps with parts and installation for the New York State Psychiatric Institute, located at 1051 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10032. This procurement aims to ensure the effective operation of sump pumps within the facility, which is critical for maintaining a safe and functional environment.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Remove all bird spikes from piping leading to the tee-wye connector at the clean-out on the horizontal line outside of MER access doors, keeping spikes for reinstallation.
- Remove existing insulation from the pump discharge line to the tee-wye connector at clean-out on horizontal line outside of MER access doors.
- Pull back and safely isolate electric heat trace for replacement after sump-pump and piping installation.
- Isolate and lock out/tag out (LOTO) all pump and pump controller electrical connections for two sets of pumps.
- Demo and remove four existing sump pumps, control panels, associated level controllers, and piping to tee-wye connector at clean-out on horizontal line outside of MER access doors.
- Provide temporary sump pumps as necessary to keep all four sump pits free of excess water.
- Furnish and install two new duplex sump pumps of like-for-like size/capacity, control panels, associated level controllers, and piping to connect new pumps to drainage lines.
- Reconnect all electrical connections for new pump sets.
- Test operation of newly installed duplexes by flooding and draining pits as necessary to ensure proper operation of floats and float controller.
- Replace existing heat trace to new drain lines similar to previously installed systems.
- Replace all insulation from new pump discharge line up to main line.
- Reinstall all bird spikes similar to previous installations.
Period of Performance
The contract term is a one-time purchase with an anticipated start date as soon as possible after bid selection.

The work will be performed at the New York State Psychiatric Institute located at 1051 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10032.
