Background
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is announcing funding for Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Disposal projects through the Household Hazardous Waste State Assistance Program. Approximately $3,500,000 is available for grants from the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF). The goal of this program is to assist municipalities and eligible entities in managing household hazardous waste effectively within New York State.
Work Details
The grant supports projects that include:
1) Accepting, segregating, preparing for shipment, or transporting household hazardous waste brought to collection events or facilities;
2) Recycling, treatment, or disposal of collected household hazardous wastes;
3) Publicity, promotion, and public education directly related to operating a household hazardous waste collection program.
Eligible project expenditures include costs associated with various types of hazardous materials such as pesticides, corrosives, pool chemicals, and more. The maximum grant amount per applicant is $2,000,000.
Period of Performance
The contract period/term for all projects is from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025. All objectives and deliverables must be completed and invoiced within this timeframe.
Place of Performance
Eligible projects must be located within New York State.
Bidder Requirements
Eligible bidders include counties, cities, towns or villages; local public authorities; local public benefit corporations; school districts; and Native American tribes residing in New York State. Bidders are required to submit only one bid and must comply with MWBE contracting goals (0% MBE and WBE), SDVOB participation requirements (0% goal), and must certify compliance with sexual harassment prevention policies.
