Background
The City of Yonkers/Yonkers Public Schools (YPS) is requesting proposals from qualified Energy Services Companies to perform energy conservation measures and facility upgrades on a School District-wide basis. The District is committed to challenging the city’s youth to aspire to their highest potential, and to inspire a life-long love of learning. The District is also one of the largest employers in Westchester County, with a diverse workforce of 3,900 educators and support staff.
Work Details
The project aims to assist the District in becoming as energy efficient as possible through the installation of energy conservation measures, upgrades, and implementation of optimal operation and maintenance procedures. The project will include a comprehensive energy audit, survey of existing energy systems, and walk-throughs of school facilities for gathering information and conducting a preliminary assessment of energy efficiency opportunities. The project will be performed over a 20-year contract term with three options to renew for an additional five-year period by mutual concurrence. The ESCO must guarantee the recovery of contract costs from energy savings over the term of the Energy Performance Contract, which shall not exceed 18 years.
