The State University of New York at Stony Brook (SUNY) is seeking qualifications from consultants to provide design services for the replacement of the HVAC/Mechanical Systems at the Charles B. Wang Center Building. This building, constructed in 2002, has been facing high humidity issues and mechanical equipment failures over recent years. Work Details
The consultant will conduct an assessment of the HVAC systems in the Charles B. Wang Center Building, which includes:
1. Testing and assessing existing mechanical equipment including rooftop air handling units (AHUs), kitchen exhaust and supply fans, heat exchangers, chillers, variable air volume (VAV) systems, and variable frequency drives.
2. Providing a detailed assessment report that includes:
- Equipment/systems tested and assessed.
- Recommendations for addressing humidity issues.
- A design approach for correcting identified problems.
3. Addressing all issues found in the assessment during Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Document phases (60% and 100% CD).
4. Assessing BMS controls, plumbing, electrical systems, fire alarms, structural support systems for AHUs, hazardous material inspection, testing and abatement design, and providing cost estimates at various design phases.

The contract will be performed over a timeline that aligns with the project phases including Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Document phases (60% and 100% CD).
