Scope of Work Requested

The contract work involves comprehensive renovations at the Astoria Houses Community Center, with a primary focus on bathroom renovations. The specific tasks to be completed under this contract include:
  • Abatement of all Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) at pipe chases that are opened during plumbing removals and pipe tie-ins.
  • Abatement of all ACM window caulking where required for the installation of new ductwork.
  • Legal removal and disposal of all debris and waste associated with abatement, in accordance with the quantities indicated on drawing H101.00.
  • Renovations to the community center to include the creation of a new science laboratory.
  • ADA upgrades to the existing boys' and girls' bathrooms, as well as the addition of one accessible bathroom.
  • Installation of new finishes and millwork in the science room, all as specified in the contract documents.

Background

Contract Requirements

All abatement work must be performed in strict accordance with Section 02 82 13 and comply with the latest rules and regulations of all relevant agencies. NYCHA will conduct asbestos testing at a time to be established during the pre-construction meeting. The contractor is responsible for coordinating the work schedule to allow for asbestos sampling and analysis. If test results are negative for asbestos, NYCHA will process a credit change order.
