The project consists of selective demolition services to dismantle a late 1800s gambrel roof barn structure (approximately 2,400 SF +) in a manner that would allow the Town to re-use the timber-frame superstructure members at a future date, and if deemed feasible, utilize salvaged, intact timbers to reconstruct a same-sized barn at a future date and location as determined by the Town.

The Town is seeking selective demolition services that would allow the barn to be dismantled so that structural timbers and other viable framing elements can be salvaged and stored for future reuse and/if feasible reconstruction.

The Town is seeking bids for two alternatives described below in Alternative A Specifications and Alternative B Specifications. See attached Bid Specification Document.

Background
The Town of Penfield is issuing a request for bids for the selective demolition of the Clark Road Barn, a late 1800s gambrel roof barn structure located at 1960 Clark Road, Penfield, New York.

The objective of this project is to dismantle the barn in a manner that allows for the reuse of its timber-frame superstructure members and potentially reconstruct a similar barn at a future date and location as determined by the Town. This project is classified as a prevailing wage municipal project.

Work Details
The project consists of selective demolition services to dismantle approximately 2,400 square feet of barn structure. The contractor will be responsible for:
- Removing and discarding all interior and exterior debris, doors, windows, shelving, and other fixtures.
- Timber-framing will be removed in whole sections, disassembling at the joints to allow whole beams to be saved for future construction.
- Roof dismantling includes carefully removing roof sheathing and shingles, which must be disposed of properly. Rafters and truss components must also be removed while preserving their structural integrity for future use.
- Wall and floor dismantling involves removing exterior wall cladding systematically while supporting the timber-frame structure, lowering main support beams using appropriate lifting equipment, and removing flooring systems while salvaging any non-rotted materials.
- Salvaged timbers must be labeled with their type/function, location, and size before being placed in containers provided by the Town to prevent warping or damage.
- If required, excavation work may be performed to remove any remaining foundation or excess material in the basement with proper grading and backfilling procedures followed. All waste materials will be hauled off-site in compliance with state and federal regulations.

The contract term is set for 6 months from the start date of work.
