Bid #5 HEMV 2025-2026 Roof Replacement & Asbestos Abatement at 1 Helen Keller Way in the Inc. Village of Hempstead

Background
The contract is issued by the Incorporated Village of Hempstead, which aims to undertake a significant renovation project involving roof replacement and asbestos abatement at 1 Helen Keller Way. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the building while adhering to environmental regulations regarding asbestos removal.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for:
1. Asbestos Abatement: Complete removal of asbestos materials as per the specifications provided in the contract documents.
2. Roof Replacement: Providing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete roof replacement work as shown on the contract drawings and specifications.
3. Concrete Roof Deck Repair: This includes removal of spalled and damaged concrete down to sound concrete, cleaning remaining concrete and reinforcement, applying a bonding agent to existing surfaces, and installing a polymer modified cementitious repair mortar to repair removed sections of damaged concrete roof.
4. General Requirements: A lump sum for general requirements as specified in Division 1 of the contract documents.

Period of Performance
The work is expected to commence within ten (10) working days after notification to begin work and must be completed within 90 calendar days from that notification.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at 1 Helen Keller Way, Incorporated Village of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must demonstrate sufficient experience in similar work and financial capability. A bid bond or certified check of not less than five percent (5%) of the base bid is required. Additionally, there are Minority/Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) goals set at 5% and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goals also set at 5%. Bidders must comply with conditions of employment and minimum wage rates as stipulated in the contract.
