Background
The New York City Department of Design and Construction is issuing this contract for the installation of non-standard pedestrian ramps in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The project aims to enhance accessibility and safety for pedestrians in the specified community boards, aligning with the city's mission to improve urban infrastructure and public spaces.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the installation of non-standard pedestrian ramps across various community boards in Brooklyn (1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 16, 17) and Manhattan (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11). The work includes but is not limited to:
- Asphaltic concrete wearing course (3" thick)
- Concrete base for pavers (4" to 7" thick)
- New granite curb installations (both straight and corner types)
- Concrete sidewalks (4" and 7" thick)
- Maintenance tree pruning
- Installation of catch basins and manholes
- Utility crossings for catch basin chute connections
- Various other construction tasks as detailed in the bid schedule.
Special care excavation and restoration will also be required for sidewalk work.
Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a specified period as determined by the city upon award of the contract.
Place of Performance
The work will take place in designated areas within Manhattan and Brooklyn as outlined in the solicitation.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must meet special experience requirements including having completed at least one similar project within the last seven years. Specific qualifications are required for various types of work such as underground construction adjacent to subways or railroads. Additionally, bidders must comply with community hiring requirements.
