2026 tree removal project

Background
The Village of Canastota is seeking bids for the 2026 Tree Removal Project, aimed at managing and removing trees and stumps from various rights-of-way within the Village. This initiative is part of the Village's efforts to maintain public safety and aesthetics in community spaces.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the trimming or removal of trees and grinding of stumps as specified in the provided list. All tree removals must include stump removal, with stumps ground to an 8-10 inch grade. Any visible protuberant surfaces and subsurface roots beyond the stump area must also be removed to a depth of 8-10 inches.

The contractor must ensure that all debris from tree and stump removal operations is cleaned up daily before leaving the site unless otherwise permitted by the Village. Additionally, the contractor must maintain clear and safe roads during operations, providing appropriate traffic control as approved by the Village. The work includes specific addresses where trees are to be removed or trimmed, with each tree marked accordingly for identification.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence upon award and must adhere to a schedule that allows for completion prior to June 3, 2026.

Place of Performance
The work will take place within various rights-of-way throughout the Village of Canastota, New York.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide a bid security check for $500 with their proposal. All work performed under this contract will be subject to New York State Department of Labor prevailing wage rates (PRC #2026004284), and contractors must be registered with NYSDOL for public works projects.

Additionally, contractors are required to maintain adequate insurance coverage including Workers’ Compensation Insurance and Liability Insurance with specified limits.
