Background
The Second Judicial District Attorney's Office in New Mexico is seeking to contract prosecution services against suspects identified through a sexual assault evidence kit audit. The goal of this contract is to address the backlog of sexual assault cases and ensure timely prosecutions, thereby supporting the mission of the agency to deliver justice for victims of sexual assault.

Work Details
The contractor will provide prosecution services focusing on cases identified through the sexual assault evidence kit audit. Specific tasks include:

- Prescreening cases to determine their viability with or without DNA results;
- Ordering copies of evidence tagged by investigators;
- Making charging recommendations;
- Updating case statuses in the District Attorney's Case Management System;
- Maintaining logs that track the number of cases received, initiated, concluded, and pending during reporting periods.

The contractor must be a retired prosecutor with experience in handling sexual assault cases and knowledge of relevant systems such as the Case Management System and Odyssey system used by New Mexico courts.

Period of Performance
The contract is set to commence on July 1, 2026, and will conclude on June 30, 2027.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Bidder Requirements
The prospective contractor must be a retired prosecutor with significant experience in prosecuting sexual assault cases. They should have expertise in screening such cases efficiently due to the high volume related to the rape kit backlog. Additionally, they must possess good communication skills for interaction with various law enforcement agencies and familiarity with DNA report interpretation.
