Alameda Zoo Duck Pond Improvements

Background
The City of Alamogordo is issuing a contract for the construction of the Alameda Zoo Duck Pond Improvements under Public Works Bid No. PW 2025-007.

The project aims to enhance the facilities at the zoo, aligning with the city's mission to provide quality recreational spaces for residents and visitors. The improvements are intended to ensure better habitat conditions for wildlife and improve visitor experience.

Work Details
The work includes:
1) Installation of aviary netting;
2) Installation of a gate on the walkway bridge;
3) Removal and replacement of the pond lining (sewer line);
4) Sewer line replacement.

All work must be performed in accordance with provided drawings, specifications, and other contract documents. Specific tasks include:
- Removal of surfacing as specified;
- Mobilization;
- Installation of Polyvinyl Chloride Pipe (6”);
- Construction staking;
- Installation of a sanitary sewer gate valve;
- Construction of a 16’ tall aviary enclosure;
- Installation of a floor drain;
- Removal of existing aviary fencing;
- Concrete pond lining installation;
- Nonstructural shotcrete application;
- Sanitary sewer clean-out installation.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award and is expected to be completed within a specified timeframe as outlined in the agreement, with substantial completion required by November 25, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Alameda Zoo located in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess valid licenses as per New Mexico Construction Industries Licensing Act classifications GA-98 for netting (fencing), GB-98 for gates, and GA-98 for sewer work. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for November 10, 2025. Bids must include a bid security amounting to five percent (5%) of the total bid amount. Successful bidders will be required to furnish performance and payment bonds equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the bid amount.
