Background
The City of Trenton, through its Department of Health and Human Services, is issuing a solicitation for the exterior historic restoration and rehabilitation of the Trenton Carver Youth and Family Center located at 40 Fowler Street, Trenton, NJ. This project is funded in part by the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The goal of this contract is to restore and rehabilitate a historically significant building listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Work Details
The scope of work includes roofing replacement, parapet wall restoration, cornice repairs, storm drainage repairs, removal of built-up roof and flashing, partial demolition of concrete roof deck, selective removal both interior and exterior, application of cold fluid applied membranes, structural steel framing repairs, dismantling and rebuilding masonry including precast concrete cornice, installing new roof access points, replacing or repairing precast concrete and terracotta parapet coping stones, interior protection at historic finishes and features, repairs to asphalt shingle roofs, and hazardous material removal.
All work must conform to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
Period of Performance
The project completion is expected within 200 calendar days from the 'Notice to Proceed'.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Trenton Carver Youth and Family Center located at 40 Fowler Street, Trenton, NJ 08618.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be qualified in historic preservation and masonry restoration. They are required to comply with federal CDBG requirements including labor compliance under the Davis-Bacon Act.
Bidders must submit documentation proving outreach to Section 3 residents and Minority/Women Business Enterprises (MBE/WBE) for subcontracting opportunities. Additionally, bidders must provide a certified check or bid bond as bid security along with a Consent of Surety. A performance bond will be required from the awarded contractor.
