Description

The City of Nashua, Division of Public Works, is soliciting bids from qualified contractors with industrial hydraulicsystem experience to repair two hydraulic drain gate cylinders and associated piping and valves in our Screeningand Disinfection Facility (SDF), located at 63 Bridge St., Nashua NH.
Background
The City of Nashua, Division of Public Works, is soliciting bids from qualified contractors with industrial hydraulic system experience to repair two hydraulic drain gate cylinders and associated piping and valves in the Screening and Disinfection Facility (SDF) located at 63 Bridge St., Nashua NH.

The facility, which went online in December 2014, is permitted by the Environmental Protection Agency and regulated by a NPDES permit. It consists of concrete structures with hydraulically actuated drain gates to regulate flow and remove sediment, relying on gravity to minimize complexity and reduce costs.

Work Details
The contractor will provide products and installation for the replacement of two existing hydraulic gate cylinders and associated valves with stainless steel components. All components must be explosion-proof rated.

The installation involves working in a confined space accessed only through a manhole cover. The current installation includes two Whipps Series 955 stainless steel slide gates (50.5 inches tall, 96 inches wide) with integral flap gates (26-inch by 26-inch) designed for a maximum seating head of 20 feet. Each assembly weighs approximately 1,900 pounds and is installed using adhesive anchors.

The project also includes replacing valve stacks, hoses, fittings, and hose ends with stainless steel parts where available.

Period of Performance
The project will begin upon issuance of a written 'Notice to Proceed'. Substantial completion is required within 84 consecutive calendar days, with final completion within 98 consecutive calendar days. Liquidated damages of $500 per day will apply for delays beyond these dates.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Screening and Disinfection Facility located at 63 Bridge St., Nashua NH.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have at least five years of experience with similar projects and provide references upon request. They must also submit a bid bond equivalent to 5% of the bid price, performance bonds representing 100% of the contract work, and certificates of insurance including general liability ($1 million per occurrence), motor vehicle liability ($1 million combined single limit), and workers' compensation coverage compliant with New Hampshire statutes.
