Water Transmission Main Construction and Improvements Project

Background
The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities is issuing a contract for the Water Transmission Main Construction and Improvements Project. The project aims to enhance the water transmission system near the Thomas Water Treatment Plant and Winston-Salem State University. This initiative aligns with the agency's mission to provide reliable water services to the community.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Construction of approximately 3,185 linear feet (L.F.) of 30-inch diameter finished water transmission main.
- 200 L.F. of 24-inch diameter finished water transmission main.
- Approximately 100 L.F. of 48-inch diameter encasement pipe using trenchless methods.

Additional tasks include mobilization, clearing and grubbing, installation of ductile iron pipe and fittings, gate valves, steel encasement pipes, air release valves in manholes, concrete thrust blocking, trench rock excavation, backfill material, stabilization stone, asphalt work, removal and replacement of concrete flatwork, seeding and mulching, installation of temporary sediment control measures, grading for stream channels and embankments, and construction of a greenway path with retaining walls.

Period of Performance
The contract performance period is expected to commence upon award and will continue until all work is completed as per the project specifications. The bids are due by May 20, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, specifically near the Thomas Water Treatment Plant and Winston-Salem State University.

Bidder Requirements
Contractors must be properly licensed as required by Chapter 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes at the time of bid submission. Compliance with the City/County Utility Commission's Minority and Women Business Enterprise program is required with subcontracting goals set at 6% MBE and 4% WBE.
