Background
The City of Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking to contract with one or more companies to provide routine preventive maintenance and repair services for approximately 50 Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) located at various City facilities. These VFDs, which range from 208 volts to 460 volts, are utilized in applications involving pumps and fans for HVAC systems to achieve energy savings. The City aims to engage firms that can deliver professional, timely, and cost-effective services.
Work Details
The contractor will provide the following services:
1. Routine preventive maintenance including inspection, testing, cleaning, and replacement of parts as needed for each VFD.
2. Maintenance visits should check for unusual conditions such as vibration, deterioration, leakage, high surface temperature or noise. Specific tasks include:
a. Cleaning the exterior of the VFD.
b. Checking control panels and start controls.
c. Inspecting drives for dust ingress and corrosion.
d. Checking internal components for foreign objects.
e. Inspecting fans and ensuring they are operational.
f. Checking moisture and corrosion on circuit boards.
g. Changing air filters as needed.
h. Inspecting terminals and connectors for damage.
i. Conducting a detailed service report after each visit.
3. On-call repair services within 24 hours of notification for any VFD failures or malfunctions.
4. Major repairs will require written estimates based on labor rates and parts discounts provided in the proposal.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and will continue as needed based on task orders issued by the City.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various City facilities throughout Charlotte, North Carolina.
Bidder Requirements
Companies must possess sufficient equipment and tools necessary to perform the work outlined in this scope of services. Additionally, all staff must pass background checks conducted by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department prior to entering CMPD locations.
