State Route Shoulder and Median Mowing, Vegetation Trimming, and Litter Removal in Warren County

Background
The State of North Carolina, through its Department of Transportation (NCDOT), is seeking proposals for a contract focused on maintaining the state highway system in Warren County. The primary mission of this contract is to ensure the safety and aesthetic quality of the roadways by providing essential maintenance services such as mowing, vegetation trimming, and litter removal. This initiative aims to enhance the overall appearance and safety of the highways while adhering to state regulations and standards.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following services:
- Routine mowing of vegetation along state routes, ensuring a cutting height of six inches, with adjustments allowed at the Engineer's discretion.
- Cleanup mowing cycles that extend to tree lines or right-of-way as directed by the Engineer.
- Trimming vegetation around stationary objects, specifically targeting areas that may obstruct sight distance.
- Removal of litter and debris from designated routes, particularly on interstate and primary roads. The contractor must ensure that all collected litter is removed from the right-of-way by the end of each workday.
- The work will include a minimum provision of equipment such as 60" – 90" mowers (6 required), long-arm mowers, and zero-turn type mowers as necessary for effective operation.
- The contractor must also provide qualified personnel, including a minimum of five operators with string trimmers for trimming operations.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on March 1, 2025, and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2026. There is potential for extensions up to five additional terms at NCDOT's discretion.
