Southern Redwood Convenience Site

Background
The County of Durham is issuing this solicitation for the redevelopment of the Southern Redwood Convenience Site. The project aims to enhance local waste management facilities and improve community services. This initiative is part of the county's broader mission to provide efficient and sustainable waste disposal solutions for its residents.

Work Details
The work contemplated under this contract includes:
1. Demolition of the existing convenience center;
2. General site work, including earthwork, site erosion control, and stormwater system development;
3. Installation of site utilities, which includes a new water supply well, a new septic system, and site electrical systems;
4. Site improvements such as paved surfaces, retaining walls, concrete pads, and landscaping;
5. Construction of a new two-story office building fully furnished;
6. Ancillary features including a new swap shop, covered storage area, site communication and security systems, signage, fencing, and other appurtenances.

Period of Performance
The contract performance period is expected to commence upon award and continue until project completion. Bids are due on October 21, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Southern Redwood Convenience Site located at 105 Electra Road, Durham, North Carolina 27704.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be licensed to perform work in North Carolina under the Act to Regulate the Practice of General Contracting. A 5% bid security is required for bids that equal or exceed $300,000. Additionally, all materials used in the project must comply with Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
