School Grounds Maintenance Services Request for Proposals

Background
New Hanover County Schools is soliciting proposals from firms to provide School Grounds Maintenance for the 2026-2027 school year, with an option to renew for an additional three years in one-year increments. The goal is to maintain the grounds of various school facilities in New Hanover County, ensuring a clean and safe environment for students and staff.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide weekly lawn and ground maintenance services, including:

- 52 consecutive weeks of landscaping services (excluding Christmas week) with 43 weeks of mowing.
- Mowing all existing grass areas.
- Removing debris from all turf and plant beds.
- Edging sidewalks and parking lots.
- Controlling weeds in various areas.
- Submitting an annual schedule for pesticide/herbicide applications.
- Trimming shrubbery and clearing tree limbs up to seven feet.
- Bi-annual pruning of bushes and shrubs.

All work must be coordinated with school administrators to avoid disruption during school hours. All herbicide applications must be pre-approved, and contractors must comply with safety regulations.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with options for renewal for three additional years in one-year increments.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations throughout New Hanover County Schools, including elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and administrative buildings as listed in the solicitation.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a valid North Carolina Landscaping Contractors License and a valid North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services License L & E. Additionally, firms are encouraged to include minority-owned businesses in their proposals.
