Request for Bids: Purchase of Two Clarifier Drive Units for South Cary Water Reclamation Facility

Background
The Town of Cary is seeking bids for the purchase of two replacement Clarifier Drive Units for the South Cary Water Reclamation Facility. This procurement aligns with the Town's commitment to maintaining efficient water reclamation processes and ensuring operational reliability. The selected units will replace existing equipment to enhance performance in clarifiers #3 and #4.

Work Details
The contract involves supplying two Clarifier Drive Units that meet specific minimum specifications. Key requirements include:

- Each unit must provide sufficient rotational force necessary to turn rake arms at 0.035 RPM in a 100-ft diameter circular basin, transporting settled solids to the center for removal.
- Direct coupling of motor, reducer, and pinion shaft is required to eliminate chain or belt drive transmission.
- The units must be constructed from durable materials such as cast iron or steel for various components including the drive assembly housing, gear motor, speed reducer, and torque control unit.
- The torque control unit must indicate and sense output torque with alarm settings for excessive torque.
- A NEMA 4X weatherproof enclosure is required for the drive control panel, which should include a local display control panel with constant speed drive.
- Bidders must provide a complete description of materials, certified drawings, weight of components, recommended spare parts list, and operation and maintenance instructions.

Period of Performance
The delivery of all goods is expected by June 27, 2025. The contract may include additional terms regarding installation services as specified in subsequent communications.

Place of Performance
The Clarifier Drive Units will be delivered to the South Cary Water Reclamation Facility located at 4900 W Lake Rd, Apex, NC 27539.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have a minimum of five years of design and manufacturing experience with clarifier drive units. They are also required to submit a copy of the instrument hardware manual, specification sheet, and dimensional drawings with their bid. Additionally, bidders must disclose the manufacturer’s name of the equipment being submitted.
