Replacement of Fire Alarm System at Columbus Correctional Institution

Background
The North Carolina Department of Public Safety is issuing this solicitation for the replacement of the fire alarm system at Columbus Correctional Institution. The goal of the contract is to enhance safety and compliance within the institution's Classroom and Administration Buildings located at 1255 Prison Camp Rd., Whiteville, NC 28472.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for the construction project. This includes replacing the existing fire alarm system in support of the Classroom and Administration Buildings. This project is categorized as a single prime contract with all proposals to be submitted as lump sum bids.

Period of Performance
The work is expected to commence after the bid award on or before 5/22/2025. Specific timelines will be discussed during the mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for 5/7/2025.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting to qualify for bidding. General contractors must possess an Intermediate or Unlimited license classification as required by the North Carolina General Contractors Licensing Board. Bids must include a cash deposit or certified check equal to at least five percent (5%) of the proposal or a bid bond of five percent (5%). A performance bond and a payment bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Additionally, bidders must submit forms identifying minority business participation.
