Background
NC State University Transportation manages and maintains over 20,000 parking spaces across three different campuses. The goal of this contract is to provide parking lot striping services to enhance the usability and safety of these facilities.
Work Details
The contractor will provide the following services:
1. Striping of parking lots, including standard spaces, compact spaces, angled parking layouts, restriping of existing stalls, new layout and striping as directed, fire lane striping, and curb striping.
2. ADA Compliant Markings that comply with federal and state accessibility standards, including ADA parking spaces, van-accessible stalls, access aisles (striped and cross-hatched), ADA pavement symbols, accessible routes and pathways, and curb ramp markings where applicable.
3. Pavement Markings such as crosswalks, directional arrows, stop bars, pavement legends and symbols, and specialty markings as required.
4. Materials used must include high build fast dry waterborne traffic paint meeting Federal Specification TT-P-1952F Type III with a minimum of 75% solids by weight and VOC ≤ 100 g/L; glass bead application for reflective markings is required. Thermoplastic pavement markings must be preformed or hot-applied with proper bead embedment for reflectivity.
5. Surface preparation must ensure clean, dry surfaces free from debris; oil, grease, sand, and loose materials must be removed; existing failing striping must be removed where directed; new asphalt and concrete surfaces must cure for a minimum of 14 days; adhesion testing may be performed when conditions warrant.
Period of Performance
The contract will begin on May 1, 2026, for a period of one year with options to renew for up to four additional one-year periods.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at NC State University's various campuses in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have experience with large-scale institutional parking facilities and parking deck striping. They should have the ability to perform approximately 5,000 spaces annually and possess proper licensing and insurance. Bidders are required to provide a minimum of three relevant references.
