Background
The Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF) in North Carolina oversees thirteen state-operated healthcare facilities that provide care for individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance abuse disorders, and neuro-medical needs.
The purpose of this contract is to provide on-site optometry services by licensed optometrists experienced in treating these individuals. This contract aims to facilitate examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatments in the field of Optometry at DSOHF facilities.
Work Details
The contractor will provide on-site optometry services through monthly scheduled clinics at various DSOHF facilities. Services include:
1) Annual evaluations and follow-up assessments for patients;
2) Referrals to specialists as necessary;
3) Monthly clinics at Cherry Hospital and Broughton Hospital (one clinic each), and two clinics per month at Central Regional Hospital and Murdoch Developmental Center;
4) Documentation of clinical findings and recommendations during each clinic visit;
5) Evaluation and treatment of visual impairments, including prescription of glasses and treatment for eye diseases;
6) Compliance with HIPAA guidelines regarding patient information;
7) Maintenance of professional liability insurance;
8) Adherence to state medical staff bylaws and credentialing requirements.
Period of Performance
The contract will have an initial term of three years, beginning on October 1, 2026.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the following DSOHF facilities:
- Murdoch Developmental Center (Butner, NC)
- Central Regional Hospital (Butner, NC)
- Cherry Hospital (Goldsboro, NC)
- Broughton Hospital (Morganton, NC).
Bidder Requirements
Vendors must be registered with the North Carolina Secretary of State. They must provide proof of current licenses/certifications/registrations, professional liability insurance, and malpractice insurance. Additionally, vendors are required to comply with HUB participation goals by utilizing diverse firms as subcontractors.
