Guardrail Installation and Repair Services

Background
The City of Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking a qualified vendor to provide Guardrail Installation and Repair Services. This contract aims to ensure the maintenance and repair of guardrails on various roads throughout the city as needed. The goal is to enhance road safety by addressing damaged guardrails promptly and effectively.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Replacing or repairing damaged guardrail sections including posts, blockouts, and end treatments.
- Adjusting existing guardrail height to meet current standards.
- Removing and disposing of existing guardrail components as required.
- Performing site grading and restoration.
- Managing surrounding vegetation.
- Ensuring safety measures are in place during operations.

All work must comply with the General Guidelines of the contract, Project Special Provisions, North Carolina Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures (January 2024), and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Materials used must include galvanized steel W-beam and Thrie-beam rails, steel or timber posts, guardrail end terminals (MASH-compliant), reflectors, delineators, anchoring systems, and hardware.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award estimated around April 27, 2026, with services continuing as needed based on requests from the City.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations throughout the City of Charlotte.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must ensure that all employees interacting with City personnel are identifiable by uniforms with company logos and name badges. Personnel must meet DMV and DOT requirements, be at least 18 years old, communicate effectively in English, possess valid driver's licenses for their vehicles, and have adequate training for safe service performance. The contractor must also comply with all local, state, and federal laws.
