Background
The Grier Science Building Renovation project is being undertaken by Mitchell Community College, located at 500 W. Broad Street, Statesville, NC 28677. The mission of the college is to provide quality education and training to its students. This contract aims to renovate the existing Grier Science Building by demolishing outdated structures and systems. Modern finishes and systems will be reintroduced to enhance the learning environment.
Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1. Demolition of existing casework, systems, floor, and ceiling finishes in approximately 22,000 square feet of classrooms, labs, offices, and four toilet areas across two floors of the building.
2. Reinstallation of new finishes and systems post-demolition.
3. Oversight and coordination with the college’s direct contract vendors, specifically Kewanee for new lab cabinets and other related items.
Period of Performance
Construction is anticipated to begin on February 3, 2025, and must be completed within 210 days from the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day may be assessed for delays beyond this period.
