Greenhouse Foundation Installations at Holly Shelter and Roland Grise Middle Schools

Background
New Hanover County Schools is seeking qualified contractors to submit proposals for the installation of foundations and associated mechanical hookups for two new greenhouses at Holly Shelter Middle School and Roland Grise Middle School. The agency aims to enhance educational facilities by providing these greenhouses, which will support the school's mission of reaching, equipping, and achieving educational goals.

Work Details
The project involves the installation of foundations and associated mechanical hookups for two greenhouses. One greenhouse will be located at Holly Shelter Middle School (3921 Roger Haynes Drive, Castle Hayne, NC 28429) and the other at Roland Grise Middle School (4412 Lake Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28403). Contractors must have a minimum of two years of experience in publicly funded construction projects. Bidders are required to make a good faith effort to achieve a 10% participation goal for minority businesses in the total value of the work.

Period of Performance
The contract activities are expected to commence upon issuance of a Notice to Proceed. Specific dates for substantial and final completion will be determined. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, excluding school holidays.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Holly Shelter Middle School in Castle Hayne, NC and Roland Grise Middle School in Wilmington, NC.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for August 14, 2025. They are required to submit an affidavit documenting their good faith efforts regarding minority business participation. Bidders must also provide either Affidavit A (Listing of Good Faith Efforts) or Affidavit B (Intent to Perform Contract with Own Forces) with their bid. Additionally, bidders must have a valid North Carolina Contractor’s License.
