Fire Shutter Testing, Inspection, and Repair Services for Educational Facilities

Background
The Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) is the largest school district in North Carolina and the 15th largest in the United States, serving approximately 160,000 students across 199 schools. The agency is seeking competitive bids from qualified vendors to provide Fire Shutter Testing, Inspection, and Repair Services for its facilities. The goal of this contract is to ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain operational integrity of fire shutters at all WCPSS properties.

Work Details
The contractor must provide comprehensive Fire Shutter Testing/Inspection & Corrective Maintenance services at WCPSS facilities. This includes:
1. Compliance with NFPA 80 standards for inspection, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire shutters.
2. Recognizing system defects and malfunctions.
3. Producing all required testing documentation as mandated by NFPA 80, WCPSS, and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
4. Conducting inspections that include checks for visible labels, structural integrity of doors and frames, alignment of components, operational smoke detectors, and documentation of findings.
5. Estimated total labor hours for installation and repair is approximately 450 hours; however, this does not guarantee work as multiple contracts may be issued.

Period of Performance
The contract will have an initial term of one year, beginning July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations owned or leased by the Wake County Public School System in Wake County, North Carolina.
