Fire Hydrant Installation and Repair Services for School Facilities

Background
The Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) is the largest school district in North Carolina and the 15th largest in the United States, serving approximately 160,000 students across 199 schools. The district is seeking competitive bids from qualified vendors for fire hydrant installation and repair services at its facilities, which may include properties owned, leased, or possessed by WCPSS. The goal of this contract is to ensure the proper installation and maintenance of fire hydrants to support safety and compliance within the school system.

Work Details
The contractor will provide installation, maintenance, and repair services for both above-ground and underground fire hydrants. This includes troubleshooting issues related to hydrants and piping systems. The contractor must be knowledgeable about hydrant specifications and have procedures in place for working on these systems. Additionally, the contractor is responsible for obtaining any necessary permits and providing incidental supplies or hardware required to complete job tasks. Emergency response times must be within two hours for urgent requests, with a capability to handle multiple calls at any time.

Period of Performance
The contract will have an initial term of one year, starting from July 1, 2025, through July 31, 2026.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various WCPSS facilities located in Wake County, North Carolina.

Bidder Requirements
Vendors must not be listed on either the State of North Carolina debarred vendor registry or the Federal Government debarred vendor registry. They are required to have appropriate licenses as mandated by North Carolina state law. Vendors must also provide qualifications including years in business, office locations, and number of full-time staff dedicated to WCPSS services. Compliance with E-Verify laws regarding employment eligibility is mandatory.
