Excavation, Loading, Hauling, and Delivery of 500, 000 Cubic Yards of Dirt to Rowan County Landfill

Background
Rowan County is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to excavate, load, haul, and deliver approximately 500,000 cubic yards of dirt material from Martin Marietta’s Woodleaf site to the Rowan County Landfill.
The goal of this contract is to ensure the efficient transportation of dirt material within a defined timeframe, supporting the county's operational needs.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all labor, equipment, materials, and transportation necessary for the excavation, loading, and hauling of identified dirt material from the Martin Marietta Woodleaf Plant (Site #1) to the Rowan County Landfill (Site #2), which are approximately 3.48 miles apart.
The contractor's responsibilities include:
1. Excavate the designated dirt material at Site #1.
2. Load all excavated material safely and efficiently.
3. Transport the material to Site #2 using appropriate haul routes and equipment.
4. Maintain consistent daily operations to meet the production rate proposed in their bid.
5. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including safety and environmental requirements.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a twelve-month period during which up to 500,000 cubic yards of dirt must be excavated and transported.

Place of Performance
Excavation will occur at Martin Marietta’s Woodleaf site located at 720 Quarry Road, Woodleaf, NC 27054.
Delivery will be made to Rowan County Landfill located at 789 Campbell Road, Woodleaf, NC 27054.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide proof of insurance coverage including worker’s compensation insurance as required by North Carolina law; comprehensive general liability coverage; and comprehensive automobile liability coverage.
A performance bond equal to 100% of the contract amount will be required from the awarded contractor before entering into a contract with Rowan County.
