Background
The Moore County Board of Education is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from qualified professional engineering firms to provide engineering services for the evaluation of two pump stations located at West Pine Middle School and Sandhills Farm Life Elementary School. The goal is to assess the condition, capacity, and reliability of these systems and provide recommendations for necessary repairs or improvements.
The Board encourages proposals from historically underutilized businesses (HUBs) as defined by North Carolina law.
Work Details
The selected firm will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the lift stations which includes:
- Reviewing available as-built drawings, historical records, and maintenance logs;
- Performing site inspections of mechanical, electrical, and structural components;
- Conducting hydraulic capacity analysis under current and projected flow conditions;
- Determining the need for additional air relief valves;
- Assessing if the lift station pumping unit meets future needs;
- Evaluating compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations;
- Developing prioritized recommendations for repair, rehabilitation, or replacement;
- Preparing cost estimates for recommended improvements.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon selection and is anticipated to be completed within a timeline that aligns with the project requirements outlined in the RFQ.
Place of Performance
The evaluation services will be performed at two locations: West Pine Middle School and Sandhills Farm Life Elementary School in Moore County, North Carolina.
Bidder Requirements
Firms must be licensed professional engineering firms in the State of North Carolina with demonstrated experience in wastewater collection system evaluation and lift station design. They should have staff with expertise in civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering disciplines and a proven track record of successful completion of similar projects.
Additionally, firms must submit proof of licensure and insurance in required statutory amounts.
