Elevator Modernization Services Required in Washington County

Background
Washington County is soliciting bids from qualified general contractors for the modernization of an existing passenger traction elevator. The goal of this contract is to update the elevator to meet all relevant specifications, building codes, and ensure full compliance with applicable ADA standards. The successful contractor will be responsible for delivering a complete, turnkey elevator modernization solution.

This procurement will follow a competitive, formal bidding process in accordance with established procurement procedures.

Work Details
The scope of work includes modernizing one (1) passenger traction elevator located at 120 Adams Street, Plymouth, NC 27962 in the Washington County Courthouse building. The modernization must comply with all applicable building codes and elevator codes including ASME A17.1-2022 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators and ADA guidelines.

The contractor must provide a complete turnkey project including:
- Modernization of the existing elevator system including major components such as controller, machine, hoisting motor, governor assembly, door operator, and fixtures.
- Installation of new non-proprietary equipment that has performed satisfactorily in at least twenty-five similar installations.
- A one-year warranty maintenance period included in the bid.
- All necessary building-related work for code compliance including electrical and mechanical systems.
- Removal of the elevator from service scheduled with the Owner’s Representative.
- Provision of a storage container for tools and equipment on-site due to lack of storage space within the building.
- Compliance with safety measures during construction while maintaining building operations.

Period of Performance
The target start date for the project is May 1, 2025, with a target completion date set for May 1, 2026.
