Background
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College (ABTCC) is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide elevator inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair services for a total of eighteen (18) passenger elevators, four (4) freight elevators, and three (3) chair lifts located across its main Asheville Campus and Candler-Enka Campus. The goal of this contract is to ensure that all elevators are maintained in a safe, functional condition compliant with the American Standard Safety Code for Elevators (ANSI-A17.1), ANSI Inspection Manual (ANSI-A17.2), and all applicable laws and regulations.
Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive maintenance services including inspections, examinations, lubrication, testing, cleaning, adjusting, and both major and minor repairs of elevator equipment. All labor and material costs associated with repairs or replacements are included in the agreement. Specific tasks include:
- Regular examination of machine parts including worms, gears, thrusts, bearings, commentators, rotating elements, coils, contacts, resistors, magnet frames, hydraulic valves.
- Maintenance of both belt-driven and wire rope elevator systems.
- Keeping guide rails lubricated and aligned.
- Performing safety tests as required by ANSI-A17.1.
- Renewing wire ropes and belts as necessary.
- Inspecting safety devices and governors.
- Monthly inspections which include checking operation of car doors, motors, machines, controllers; cleaning components; adjusting brakes; inspecting hoist way pits; etc.
Period of Performance
The initial term of the contract is one (1) year from the date of final contract execution with options to renew for two additional one-year terms at the discretion of the State.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College's main Asheville Campus and Candler-Enka Campus.
Bidder Requirements
Vendors must be registered with the North Carolina Secretary of State. They must also provide a Certificate of Insurance with their bid. Vendors are required to have financial stability certified through ATTACHMENT G: CERTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL CONDITION. Additionally, vendors must comply with HUB participation goals by utilizing small or minority-owned businesses as subcontractors.
