Design Services for Solid Waste Management Administration Building Roof & Building Fa ade

Background
The City of Durham, North Carolina, General Services Department is seeking a consulting firm to provide professional design services for the Solid Waste Management Administration Building located at 1833 Camden Avenue. The goal of this contract is to address water infiltration issues affecting the building's roofing, exterior walls, gutters, and ground-level flooding, which have caused damage to the interior walls. An assessment completed by RnD Architects in late 2024 outlines existing conditions and potential options for remediation.

Work Details
The selected firm will be responsible for the design of upgrades to the roofing and building envelope. This includes:
1. Roofing improvements;
2. Design of exterior gutters and overhangs;
3. Interior wall reconstruction to prevent water damage;
4. Upgrades to the building façade;
5. Groundwater drainage solutions to mitigate flooding issues.

Period of Performance
The project is expected to commence with a Notice to Proceed on August 18, 2025, and is scheduled for completion four months thereafter.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Solid Waste Management Administration Building located at 1833 Camden Avenue, Durham, NC 27704.

Bidder Requirements
Firms must meet specific qualifications outlined in the RFQ and are encouraged to participate in the Equal Business Opportunity Program (EBOP). The goals for this RFQ are set at 8% Minority/Underutilized Business Enterprise (UBE) participation and 0% Women/UBE participation. Proposals must include completed Professional Services Forms and documentation regarding UBE participation.
