Design-Build Services for Clayton High School Replacement and Demolition

Background
Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) is seeking Statements of Qualifications from Design-Build firms to provide comprehensive design and construction services for the replacement of Clayton High School. This includes the subsequent demolition of existing school buildings. The goal is to utilize a fast-tracked design and construction process that delivers quality construction in an economical and efficient manner, enhancing educational opportunities for students and staff.

Work Details
The project involves the design and construction of a new, consolidated, state-of-the-art high school to replace multiple outdated structures. The new facility will maintain a capacity for 2000 students and adhere to the space profile set forth by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Key features include modern learning spaces, enhanced safety features, visually appealing design elements, upgrades to existing athletic facilities, and the demolition of the current high school building upon completion. The estimated budget for this project is not to exceed $120,000,000.

Period of Performance
Pending funding and based on Board of Education and County approvals, the RFQ will be awarded in early 2025. The turnover and move into the new school is scheduled for summer 2028, with completion of demolition and subsequent construction work expected in 2029.

The contract will be performed at Clayton High School located at 600 S. Fayetteville Street, Clayton, NC 27520.
