Collins Roof Replacement Project: Single-Ply and BUR Roofing Renewal

Background
The Collins Roof Replacement Project is initiated by Durham Technical Community College, located at 1637 E Lawson St., Durham, NC. The project aims to renovate the existing single-ply and BUR (Built-Up Roofing) roofs of the Collins Building as part of the college's ongoing efforts to maintain and improve its facilities.
The goal is to ensure a durable and weatherproof roofing system that meets current standards and minimizes disruption to the college's operations during construction.

Work Details
The scope of work includes the following key tasks:
1. **Demolition**: Remove existing thermoplastic membrane, insulation, recovery board, and BUR membrane down to the existing metal or concrete deck across various areas. Specific areas include:
- Area 1: Concrete roof deck with ¾” Perlite insulation.
- Area 4: Metal roof deck with 1” tapered polyisocyanurate insulation.
- Areas 5 & 8: Metal roof deck with 2” extruded polystyrene insulation and adhered EPDM membrane.
- Areas 6 & 7: Metal roof deck with composite Iso/Perlite insulation and fleece-backed TPO membrane.
- Area 9: Metal roof deck with gypsum board and gravel surface.

2. **Roofing Installation**: Install new roofing materials including a KEE (Ketone Ethylene Ester) membrane reinforced with knitted polyester fabric from FiberTite, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications for wind uplift ratings and fire classifications.

3. **Insulation**: Install closed-cell polyisocyanurate insulation boards to achieve an R-30 insulation value, ensuring proper drainage and adherence to manufacturer guidelines.

4. **Flashing**: Install flashing at all penetrations, walls, and curbs using compatible materials as specified by the manufacturer.

5. **Quality Control**: Engage roofing system manufacturer's technical personnel for inspections at various stages of the project to ensure compliance with specified requirements.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence after the mandatory pre-bid meeting on February 27, 2025, and must be completed by March 10, 2025.

The work will be performed at Durham Technical Community College, specifically at the Collins Building located at 1637 E Lawson St., Durham, NC.
